One form of fitness that we recommend you try out is Kickboxing. Kickboxing includes both punches and kicks on a heavy bag and when done properly uses just about every muscle in your body. The cardio behind kickboxing routines is fantastic for burning fat and the resistance you get from the heavy bags is fantastic for toning up your body.

Let’s start with punches. The basic punches we do at Roundhouse Fitness include the Jab, Cross, left hook, right hook, left uppercut, and right uppercut. When you’re throwing punches properly you are using your entire upper body. Your hips and shoulders turn into the punches and your core tightens up. You’re core and your back muscles are just as important as your shoulders and arms. Our heavy bags at Roundhouse Fitness are filled with 200+ lbs of water in the base of the bag. Every time you punch the heavy bag you are pushing around all of that weight. This is FANTASTIC for toning up your upper body. In addition to all of this, the gloves you wear are also weighted. Just simply holding them up to your face overtime will become tiresome and help tone up your traps and your shoulders.

Moving onto kicks! The basic kicks we do at Roundhouse Fitness are front kicks, side kicks, and roundhouses. Just like punching you are using your entire body to kick the bag. While throwing roundhouses you will be turning your knees, hips, and shoulders in the direction of your kick and when striking the bag all of your muscles will tighten up. You’ve heard of V-cut abs right?? Roundhouses will help you shape that V cut into your lower abs. In fact, all of the kicks you will be doing require your core. You will be working out everything from your calves up.

When you’re working on the heavy bags you’re getting your cardio workout in at the same exact time you’re toning up your muscles. It’s a win/win situation or everybody.
